In 2012, the Collings Foundation acquired a TF-51D project, which would eventually replace their faithful TP-51C Betty Jane on the “Wings of Freedom Tour.” When the American Aero restoration team, led by Ashley Ezell, began the restoration in 2013, it became evident they had acquired an extremely rare TEMCO TF-51D. As the restoration progressed, the airframe revealed more exciting secrets.
