Jan Antonín Baťa, a young Czech entrepreneur, found passion in aviation and set a goal to fly around the world in his sleek Lockheed Ele ctra. As the German Wehrmacht swept through Czechoslovakia in 1939, Baťa fled the country and the Electra was shipped to North America to be pressed into RCAF training service.
